Going over the 10 I didn't feel very scared, most of what is written I had a general idea of. It’s just the matter of my ability to write and create stories that others want to read or see. I’d like to think that I’m a creative unique individual with his own take on storytelling but there are 7 billion humans to think about. But maybe number 6 about the editors losing interest and just tossing your hard worked story in the trash. That bothers me, I mean, I’m nobody but I always try to read what people give me. Even if it’s terrible and words are spelled wrong people try, unless there’s someone out there who writes just for attention but I imagine one could pick up on people like that and make moves to ignore them.
Number 7 spoke of writing for the market, which I’m on the fence about. For example, The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss was a ten year creation, resulting in what I think to be a masterpiece. He then wrote the sequel in about a year and a half which I believe to be poop compared to the first novel in the series. It seems that his first novel was written from the deepest part of the man and the second was for the fans and another massive check. I don’t really know if this fits the fact but I liked the book that took him 10 years rather than the one he seems to have pumped out for the market, so it goes.
This is why teaching calls to me, I can gather an income which allows myself to purchase food, shelter and other helpful things. But at the same time I can offer my input and creative depository that is my mind to others who have similar interests. Also, coincidentally I can pursue my personal projects in the hope of being published in fiction. I’d continue to write for myself which is really what I look forward to, and helping others finish their stories. Exploring the opposite of reality is my interest because other than the extraordinary animals, secret government agencies, the deep oceans and Space, reality is kind of boring.
